Foster Pets |
When I was thirteen my mother and I began to foster our cat George Perseus Jackson. He was the runt of the litter and required extra attention. George was so small and fragile that we were not sure if he would make it. Through our hard work and care he, against all odds grew stronger and stronger. We became so attached to him that we could not see him go. It has now been five years since we have had George in our lives. We began caring for him at such a young age George shares a special bond with us. My experience with fostering animals have taught me just how precious life is, and that hard work pays off in the long run.

As a child, I have always had a passion for the arts. In kindergarten, I was the straw lead pig in our rendition of The Three Piggy Opera. I participated in the Missoula Children's Theater for three years as well. My love for theater really started to blossom my Freshman year of high school. I took every theater class that was available to me. From tech classes to costume design I did it all. Eventually, I was placed in advanced drama classes and competed at regional competition with my classmates. I continued to participate in plays such as The Odyssey for Children and preformed for the elementary school. Last year I was in our schools musical Newsies. Theater has given me a chance to express myself in ways I never thought I could. To perceive life though the eyes of outsider is truly a magical experience.

Music has been a part of my life since I was little. When I was little I remember my uncle coming over and playing the guitar for us. My grandma was really passionate about singing and music as well. When I was in fifth grade I joined the school choir and began singing. My interest in music really sparked in high school. When I moved back to Salmon my Sophomore year I was previously taking a music history class and the closest match to that class here was guitar. At first I did not think I could do it, my classmates were so far ahead. Through practice I improved and improved. I loved playing so much I took guitar again just so I could learn the basics over again. I love music because it improves thought and self expression. Music is truly is a beautiful thing.

Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.
– Bruce Lee Martal ArtsAbout a year ago I began Kung Fu. I have learned through martial arts I learned not to doubt myself. When I first stared I used to think to myself "That technique looks so hard, I don't think I can do this." However I tried anyway, even though it was difficult to preform and I did not succeed multiple times, I kept trying. Eventually I understood more of the complex technique and could do them without help. I did not give up when it got hard. Even though there are still many things I don't know I am excited to learn and succeed.
